Abstract

Writing texts promotes the acquisition of new knowledge, both in the domain of linguistic elements in general and in the content area. Writing requires a prior exercise of review and analysis of the knowledge before it is transmitted in an appropriate manner; and it is precisely with this process that the production of knowledge initiates. This article presents a pedagogical project proposed by the recurrent use of descriptive texts and sequential writing with along with problem- based learning as teaching-learning strategies to help students move from a technical/economical reality to presenting a problem and the solutions to solve it. In general, this study will help to understand how teaching strategies foster students’ critical and creative thinking, leading to learning of estimation of costs and income and decision-making in solving real problems. It will also help us to rethink our teaching practice by encouraging us to make further efforts aimed at the achievement of self-managed students.
